The GDP was growing by 10% annually, their industrial sector was booming, agricultural advancements allowed them to become one of the most productive areas of the world, urbanization and social reform was happening at a rapid pace, they were building all sorts of infrastructure... Things were coming up milhouse for Russia for almost 40 years before Nicholas II made the really, really bad decision to enter WWI and then the eternal Hun staged the Bolshevik revolution and it was all ogre.
