I saw on discovery channel they can now eliminate all mosquitoes theough genetic manipulation. And then releasing the infested bugs in the wild who will spread it to other mosquitoes.

Forgot how it worked in detail. But they didnt do it yet because a lot of birds and fish eat mosquitoes. They are on the bottom of the food chain.

In my younger years (Middle School) when my goal in life was to get rid the world of mosquitoes and I was brainstorming of ways to permanently get rid of them I thought about "Since mosquitoes have short life cycles and breed until they die, why not breed a deadly gene into them that activates after a few generations so that they all die". It was only after my High School AP Bio teacher explained to me that if mosquitoes were artificially forced into extinction the environmental catastrophe it would cause would be similar to that if all the bees died

Are you dumb? It would.
Several animals feed on mosquitoes, if the mosquitoes are gone they're gone, and then the animals that feed on them are also gone, and the animals that feed on the last ones.

Minimal shit causes major impacts on the environment, dumb-dumb.

I don't know what animals feed on ticks though. They just seem like absolutely useless.
>>
>>77105881
Not many animals eat mosquitoes and the ones that do have a varied diet anyway.
At worst you'll see a slight population drop off from things like bats and a few frogs.

Fuck ticks, peroxide for every last one of them
>>
>>77105270
>>77105357

I don't see how they occupy any niches that aren't also worked on by a gorillion other insects.

Can you name a plant that can be only pollinated by a mosquito? Is there any animal that only eats m. larvae? Nope. Nope. 95-99% of all species that ever existed died out, I say its go time for these cunts and ecosystem will have to rebalance.

its insane how you'll rather let dozens of thousands of noggs die annually, the zika babies get made, than to wipe those motherfuckers out. They're dirty syringes with wings, there will be some zika-like bullshit going on every century nwo that there's a bigger victim population, nuke the shit out of them.

What makes you think that after you rewrite the ecosystem there won't be new parasites?

Amphibians are extremely weak and vulnerable little bitches. Even a little bit of pollution, even natural pollution, can fuck them up completely. It's a huge pain in the ass to keep them healthy.
>>
>>77106091
Hydrogen peroxide injected inside a tick, it'll foam and expand when it gets in contact with all the blood inside the tick.
>>
>>77106035
I concur. However, peroxide actually does that to those fuckers? Fucking awesome.
>>77105881
Land birds, like chickens and guinea hens eat ticks. I also think there's a couple of insects that eat them too.
>>
>>77106116

-t. Katoński the Elder
>>
Guinea fowls eat ticks, they're one of the best ways to cut down on the population.
>>
>>77105944
A lot of stuff eats mosquitoes, especially the larvae which are widely consumed by aquatic fauna.
>>
Opossoms are also a major predator of ticks, one adult can eat as many as 5000 a year.
>>
>>77106195
>What makes you think that after you rewrite the ecosystem there won't be new parasites?

Because its a long and arduous process of adaptation and the actual amount of flying parasite insects across the world is proportionally small. Mostly flies and mosquitoes, the later is absolutely ancient.

People who think just because there'd be no mosquitoes other creatures would get magically sucked into that evolutionary path within decades are biological illiterates. Consider that these parasites don't actually encroach on each other. You could have 10x more of them and there would be still blood to go around. Supply of victims isn't their bottleneck at all, their environmental backdrop is. So you could have blood thirsty beetles or grasshoppers right now munching on you, mosquitoes or no mosquitoes. But you don't because actually initiating this path is difficult. you need a critter that has the opportunity to develop and profit from the behavior for it to become a new key to survival.

PS and amphibians are at a special risk to CHEMICAL pollution because of their membranous skin and water contact. You actually think they're somehow more fragile overall, that's really stupid-cute of you.

They are evolutionarily old, very well adapted types of organisms, which in many cases didn't have to shift their phenotypes radically since before the first dinosaurs. Yeah, they can survive a diet change and even if one species can't I'm willing to pay that price. People > frogs. We already kill a bunch of species just by fishing, farming etc. as a side effect. This would be something less impactful than shitting up a whole environment with heavy metals.

Not all ticks carry Lyme. Mostly the young nymphs which feed in places where it persists such as rat and bird nests. Problem is they can be as small as the end of a pencil. Also you get a tick off within 24-48 hours your chances are lower, within 6-8 hours for the best chance of not catching it. However that still doesn't do anything for Rocky Mountain Fever and Spotted Fever.

The truth is that opossums are usually docile. This teeth-bearing threat display is just for show. You can poke the animal with a stick in such a state, or even put your hand near that mouth, and the opossum won't do anything! (I'm not recommending this, by the way, just sharing my own experience). In fact, as you may have heard, a more common response to danger is not for the opossum to attack, but to pass out due to sheer fright, or "play dead"!

possums are natures pussies

when we didn't have retarded euro regulations what people used to do to grasslands that are not used for any purpose other than just watching it grow was they burned them down in the spring. it created ash which is a natural fertilizer for the plants, removed the overgrown ferns and what not and also killed off any ticks lurking around. and guess what happened when this ancient practice was forbidden. yeah, ticks fucking happened. big time. now you have to get vaccinated over the course of 5 or so years to get partial immunity to all the shit they carry. and what's even worse is they have started to carry novel diseases we don't even know what the fuck to do against. i'm lucky to be alive since i get a couple of ticks each and every summer due to spending a lot of time in nature. fuck them. fuck them all to dead /rant

>>77136852
most people here (in rural areas) still burn it despite being both forbiden and fiscalized. the main difrence is that now we do it twice a year and slowly to avoid huge ash columns (and thus no attention from authorities). Unfortunely abandoned "hunting dogs" ensure thick population replenish themselves abundantly. Worse yet, the hunting season ends by mid fall, which means when summer comes, most of those dogs are weak and starving, they are banquet for the little fuckers
>>
>>77137220
Prairie lands are naturally supposed to burn once in a while, it gets rid of dead plant debris and certain plants have seeds that require fire to break down their seed coatings and germinate.
>>
>>77137028
if you are in a safe ambient you can remove ticks safely (assuming you know the drill) and tend to the wounds afterwards.

leaving ticks there could lead to infestation (not of the animal, but the places he hangs around) which in turn leads a chain reaction with terrible end results. wildfire is the only solution at that point (which nobody will ever do because it's "bad")

Also, if you had some sense you'd realize a lot of those when written by hand aren't more complicated than single symbols in Cyrillic, i.e. they're really not slower to write. Same goes for czech innovations ,when you add more dots and lines above the signs you lose tempo when writing by hand.

I always get ticks in my boxers when I go camping. Apparently they get under your clothes and they think they're burrowing under skin, so then they decide to bite where they are.

I've had two on my crotch and one on my ass. Burned the ass one off with a lighter and that was a horrible idea.

Every time I go outside I get paranoid about ticks or spiders or actually any sort of insect biting my dick or asshole or taint

worst thing that could happen and I hope it never does. I mean fuck what if you actually do get a tick on your DICK, what in the fuck would happen
>>
>>77145425
>what in the fuck would happen
Went camping once and my nephew got a leech on his dick, his dick turned purple.
>>
>>77145425
what happens is you stretch it out real good, take the tick between your thumb and index finger, turn the tick about 90 degrees and pull it out with one unhesitating motion

yes, i've had many in the region

>they're everywhere and mad as hell
>run like a cuban on food stamp day
>run under a tree
>now you're also covered in long-jawed orb weavers
>run away from the tree through some bushed
>you just ran face first into a banana spider
>smack it away
>notice something on the back of your hand
>it's a wolf spider
>smack the wolf spider away with your other hand
>there's a huntsman spider on your other hand

Now im going to sweat my balls off because i ain't opening another door or window until October

the crocodile is inside your house because you forgot to close the door and the alligator was in your pool all along

Bullshit there's no ticks. Where are you from that there aren't any? I want to move there.

>Come back home at dusk, Mum asks me to shower because I am caked in dirt and general bush stuff
>Go to shower, take clothes off
>Ticks EVERYWHERE
>All over my inner thighs, calves, armpits, sides of my stomach etc
>Even some on my nutsack/dick
>Scream and spend hours pulling them off at a doctor's surgery
>57 fucking ticks on me at the end of that
>Still remember it with total clarity

When I went back as an adult to that bushland area hiking, I would never not put some kind of repellent on me. I still get a few every time, but not nearly as many. Maybe 1/2.

We get a tonne of leeches too in the spring/autumn. Whenever i'm out 4WD'ing or whatever there's always a bunch in the mud/bog. Getting bogged cars out of rivers or mud gullies is a fucking nightmare as it is, coming out with your legs caked in leeches is a different story entirely.

Are there any based insects? Is there anything good about ants other than building cool shit underground? Are mantis really to intelligent? Can house centipedes get the fuck out of my room for once?

I actually killed a possum recently and regretted it. I can post a pic of the murder scene. I had to bury it myself and it was some of the most disgusting shit ever. I had to shoot it point blank 15 times because BB guns are weak as shit and aren't effective other than killing birds and shit.

Kek reminds me of a guy who came home after a flood and a croc is in the kitchen eating from the fridge.
As well as happy bachelor here who ate at least 14 people and possibly dozens more since his appearance in the 70's before police assault team shot him 40 times.

MY FRIENDS
do not fear
I have probably removed about 70 ticks from various animals, all using pic related
>slide prongs under tick
>twist a few times and it comes right out
the best part is it takes the head too 100% of the time, it is so easy
you can even get them in different sizes for tiny baby ticks
(after removing the tick I either burn it or drown it in alcohol)

another method to remove ticks is to smother them in vaseline. They suffocate and drop off you within an hour
>>
>>77146781
to be fair i wouldnt want to treat them as a kid would. I want them to go extinct. There is 0 use for cockroaches and humanity has done a great job vanishing diseases like smallpox and malaria and the plague but nooooo we can't do shit about roaches.

This must come to an end
