Different Texanon here. Please don't listen to the other fool. It goes like this.

Draw a diagonal line from the left right angle (around Kermit/Odessa) to Corpus Christi: majority Hispanic, Tejano cultural, great Mexican food; predominantly Mexican-Hispanic

San Antonio area: lots of ranches, beautiful countryside and towns, some German influence to be found in Fredericksburg and New Braunfels

Austin: very eclectic mix of folks with atmosphere that resembles Cali, minus the shitty parts. 50k college population. You start seeing more wealthy, white Texans around here.

Houston: Big city with a large black population, swampy weather, kind of like a precursor to Louisiana.

Coastal East Texas: Some nice beaches, nothing particularly notable

West Texas: Big Bend, some nice desert countryside, more typical hick/country white people

Dallas: Rich white businesspeople

Everything else (panhandle, central texas, etc): white country people that are more traditionally "southern," farmers and small towns, endless plains occasionally dotted by the larger, kind of depressing grid-city

The state/schools gives you all the financial aid, oportunities, counseling, tutoring, and help you could possibly want, but if you can't maintain a good gpa or pick yourself up from the gutter after fucking up high school you won't last. It depends on the CSU tbqh my man. Some are shitty and don't care about the students, and have awful programs. Some are alright, and some are pretty good. You just have to research how good the college you are interested in is before applying. Granted I didn't go to a CSU, but all my friends who did didn't have many issues and currently have pretty well paying jobs after getting a business or engineering degree in 4 years.
