How can allied planes even compete?
>>

fuck

German Luftwaffe was far superior.
>>
>>76966814
They were literally outmanoeuvered by the British Spitfire and the American P45
Air warfare in WWII is an object lesson in how having the shiniest toys won't make you the winner
>>
>>76966935
>P45
Outmaneuvered by the Spitfires yes of course
But not by the americans, boom n zoom was the best way to attack for american aircraft, americans called their pilots ""aces"" with 3 or 4 kills, where there were German aces with 30 or 40 kills
That proved that outnumbering your enemy by hundreds works
Also american planes were more reliable due to a constant flow of spare parts and pilots
When the German aces and veterans died the Americans started to get kills
>>
>>76966814
Superior pilots for the most part, mainly due to the fact that Germany was losing,
but even legends fell.
>>76966973
It's well known that Germans were shady with their scoring system. They would send up a multi-ace pilot, along with his own fighter escort. He would shoot down a plane, and every member of the flight would claim and be awarded that single kill. Not just share it, they would be awarded it. To add onto that, German aces had more kills because they were only really sent up if they knew there were enemy aircraft in the area, resulting in more aerial victories per pilot.

American planes were more reliable because of the support network, but even moreso, because of the size of them. The P-47 was a massive plane, could take one hell of a beating, and still fly home without any problems. Even in the pacific, P-38s, F6Fs, F4Us, etc. were massive aircraft, they could take one hell of a beating and still bring the pilot home (relatively) safely.
>>
>>76966973
>where there were German aces with 30 or 40 kills
Germans pilots were forced to fly more mission, since they lacked personel.
>>
>>76967191
Oh I'm well aware of the toughness of the P47, it helped our pilots survive in the pacific, also Japanese planes and I will assume German as well became more and more light on their armor and repairs as the allies closed in
And to add, I guess the germans got all those kills at the start of the soviet invasion taking out "older" or "inferior" planes like the I-16
>>
>>76966814
>thinking literally any axis plane had ANY remote chance whatsoever of even coming close to shooting down a Spitfire Mk XIV running 25 PSI boost
shoo shoo naziboo
>>
>>76967232
They pretty much were forced to fly till death, that's why they had so many kills. American and British pilots pretty much got sent back home after a few deployments.
>>
>>76967480
Say that to the German Aces who had 30 to 40 kills under their belt. American Aces had only 3 to 4 to be called one.
>>
>>76967635
That's because American and British pilots simply just flew fewer missions than their German counterparts

Without mention that they (the Germans) also had to fight against the poorly trained and poorly equipped soviet pilots
>>
>>76966680
apparently pretty well: Britain lost 30k Fighter Aircraft, the soviets lost 46k fighter aircraft, additionally around lost 20k lend leased, mostly fighters, while the US lost a grand total of 38k planes over europe, around 20k fighter aircraft.
over all roughly 140k fighter aircraft lost pver Europe, weigh that against 21k lost German Fighter Aircraft, lets give the statistics the benefit of the doubt and add 5,5k ground attackers as FW190s, and you get 26k German Fighter Aircraft lost against ~140k Fighter Aircraft of the main allies lost.

The German Luftwaffe did alright, but with those odds you'd need straight up UFOs to tip the balance in manpower and production, by 44 the Luftwaffe was depleted, simple as that, allied air superiority was not the product of some english miracle machine engine or american ingenuity, it was an ineviteability.
>>
>>76968636
I'd love a source on those statistics.

In any case, it's radar that won the skies. Equipment is nothing without intelligence.

at what?

Got their asses handed to them by the Brits in summer of '40. After some one-sided victories against the Russians in '41, they were never again a decisive factor in the East by the end of 1942. Starting in 1942, allied bomber raids ran around the clock bombing Germany for 3 straight years. Hermann Göring talked big, but his airforce couldn't back him up.
>>
>it's a wheraboo thinks German planes were good at anything but ground attack
>it's a Russian who thinks soviet pilots would even get in the air let alone know how to fly
>it's a burger thinking there planes were good at anything but interception
SHAKE MY HEAD

HOW CAN ANY PLANE COMPETE WITH THE SUPERIOR BOOMERANG

finns are lying cunts that's it
>>
>>76966814
lmao nigger, Luftwaffe only did well on eastern front because Russians only gave their new pilots a powerpoint presentation as a training before sending them to war. The always lost to an airforce of a civilised country.

Yet they never saw a day of air superiority over the allies
>>
>>76974568
What a cocky looking cunt.
>>
>>76974506
I've seen this sight fly very low over my head while I was just walking out and about on the east Kent coast, obviously an airshow going on somewhere, and the noise was fantastic.
>>
>>76972135
we don't send skilled pilots to fight
we send them to train other pilots
>>
>>76977413
how much british civilians died during ww2
10?
Of course why would you try to stop unskilled germans (all skilled were on eastern front) instead of just training.
