The armed forces was formed by the Bongs during colonial times and post WW2 to fight communist insurgency so traditionally they lean towards the west. When everything is based on the west it takes money to adapt Slav stuff and solve software issues.
That is why you see countries like Vietnam which is Soviet ally went full Slav.
Besides the AF dislikes the Flanker since its not as reliable and easy to use as their F-18D hence using the Hornets during a pirate invasion few years ago.
Also having variety can keep our neighbors guessing on its payload.

Ours is only about 50 planes and I can see Hornets from the next state flying over the rice fields frequently despite slightly lower flight hours than NATO.
