It hurts that literally every element of culture is commodified and advertised and sold such that it seems impossible to have a pure thing in life that isn't hijacked by people trying to sell you shit. Lifestyles, pastimes, hobbies, socialization: it's all branded and targeted and cynically exploited for profit. This pandering and exploitation leads to creation of new products, services, advertising techniques, and general development but makes life feel hollow.

It's western culture, Canuck, and it's not any different 100 miles north.
