I don't get why it's important to keep America white. I understand preservation of culture, but all of the Mexicans I've met (and there are shit tons in cali) are part of the culture. They mostly still just eat food from Mexico, and speak Spanish so they can more easily talk to their grandmas.

Yes, cultural assimilation is incredibly prominent in todays world, and more possible than ever. To believe that culture is something were born with is comforting, as it can let one think that your way of life can never disappear, but it's not true. Regardless of how genetically similar your great grandparent were, you aren't living the same way that they did. Every year the your culture dies a small death, as it's changed by interacting with new cultures, whether large and imperialistic or small and foreign. No ideas survive the test of time except through human effort.
