What a novel country.
700+ languages all using a manufactured lingua franca as a second, all while everyone speaks their own native language at home.

Poland?
no we don't, the only made up languages here are silesian, ukrainian and kashubian
Monaco?
>>76841246
because our lingua franca is too formal to be used in daily conversation
it's standardized malay, not manufactured
How different really are those 700+ languages? Is it like one island speaks the analogue of english and the next speaks scots and you decide to call it a new language?

Whats stopped you from Javanising? its better if you homogenise the country like Han Chinese did to China
>>76843788
because unlike them our culture is different, even our national motto is "unity in diversity"

some words in javanese language family are similar but the overall itself is somewhat mutually unintelligible.
others are what the fuck tier for each other as you move between region

Standard Indonesian isn't used outside of news broadcasts and formal papers and shit
If you go to Bali or Jakarta and try to talk to a food vendor on the side of the street in standard Indonesian, they'll just laugh at you
source: I talked to a food vendor on the side of the street in Indonesia in the standard language and he laughed at me and started speaking English

>street food in jakarta
>speaks english
you notice they become street food scammers because they cant get through junior highschool in the first place?
also bali is more australian than indonesian at this point
Indonesia is definitley one of my fav countries
