This is a false equivalence.
No matter what some shit-talking posters on here say, if you have an American accent you are considered American. Hell even people who grew up in a different country but have lived here for awhile are treated as Americans by most.
In Japan, families with Korean ancestry who've been in Japan generations and speak nothing but Japanese are not considered real Japanese. Kids who grow up in Japan with one non-Japanese parent are considered not fully Japanese (only half). If they don't look asian enough they might even be constantly treated like a foreigner.
Our countries have different ways of looking at nationality.
