English has a shitload of cognates with romance languages and german.

There are some false friends in cognates too!
For example, in Spanish "constipado" means you have a cold. For the english term "constipated" we have "atascado" (jammed) or "cagarría".
In Spanish "embarazoso" means "embarassing", but "embarazada" means pregnant.

notice how 'gn' is also pronounced as /ɲ/ in French and Italian

Apart from an enormous amount of Chinese loanwords. We have a few cognates with Khmer (much more with other Vietic languages, but information about them are rare, much like Finnish/Estonian vs the other Finnic languages), for examples, con (child), cháu (grandchild), này (this), and the numberals.
