I'm not making accusations about Russia, but all societies are gynocentric in my mind. I've talked to Russian guy who've been divorced and the courts have taken the side of women who were even grossly irresponsible and handed the children over to them. Grandparents are extremely positive about communism and I don't blame them - it was the time of their youth and everybody has a soft spot for those times when they were young and free and full of energy.
Mom is quite positive, she liked the total control of the government, the cosy isolation of the country from the rest of the world, cheap and yet really good food, free apartments and travels to resorts for workers.
Dad is rather negative, he didn't feel free enough, hated the lack of free speech and the stubbornness of the officials. He's extremely positive bout the USSR army though.

Not really. It's ok to say something vague like "I believe there are some problems with our economical system" but it would be really unwise to call out someone from the government directly. We're not North Korea tier either.

I didn't know it would come as a surprise that many russian university students (at least 50%) don't work until they finish their education. I finished the school at 18, got my bachelor's at 22 and now at 24 years old I'll get my master's diploma in a few days.

Also we have optional courses available for those who want to begin right away in the first grade. Usually there are two languages available to choose from, depending on the school: English and French or English and German.

The teachers give out passable grades for those who know the bare essentials like being able to read latin letters. Here, it's normal to work at least a part-time job to pay for rent and other living expenses. Not having a job until you're 24 is seen as rich/elite/out of touch. Even having your parents pay your tuition is enough to get shit from people. Maybe different in other parts of the US, but rural and urban California are this way.

What do they teach you in school and what's the general consensus in russia about the origins of the ancient slavic peoples?

It's said that slavs didn't exist as a distinctive group of people during ancient times, and classical ethnographers from rome and greece used to describe many different peoples living in places that are part of modern day russia and ukraine

The general idea people have about slavs in the west is that they were a mix of finns, scandinavians, ancient iranic peoples from old parthia/scythia/sarmatia and some uralic peoples from the east that have settle around the river dnieper and then propagated westwards
