I've read about him back when I was still a teen, so not only I don't remember all of it, I probably misinterpreted a few stuff.
Overall he called for the newest technocrats from the US to redesign the economy, got rid of previous leftist policies, and layed down the basis for a future free market and deeper right wing policies. Also purged the political class.
Sold a bunch of state owned companies, but held some of the copper mining rights, meant to fund either the military or the government, can't recall
Also created a couple of crisis and unemployment, not so sure if that was expected and part of turning the country around, or dumb policies.

Liberal economy is good and the economic model he installed has been good for the country overall, even if it's unequal and needs some of the government's tuning to help poorer people.

Selling everything dirt cheap, being USA's bitch and killing people who disagree with you isn't good.

As far as dictators go he wasn't bad. But he was not a good human being and you can't argue he did damage to Chile's political stage that lasts until now.

pinochet would be just a page in chilean history if he´d take the power, kick the comunist out and give the power. but he stayed 18 years, stealing and doing shit, destroying any culture or heritage we had. i belive he´s more hated for that, than for anything else
