Overpopulation is not a meme but it's not dangerous. China is overpopulated by today's standards but you still can live there pretty comfortable life

China only is overpopulated because 94% of its entire population lives in the eastern part of the country, which is 43% of China's total size.

So the eastern part of China has India-tier population density but the western part of China is one of the emptiest regions in the entire world.

China would have ~4 billion people if they had our population density.
