I grew up in a housing estate until 2000 then moved to a village in 2001 so i experienced a bit of both.
But even the village was booming at the time.

I enjoyed growing up during the boom desu. There was a great sense of happiness from the wealth everyone had and an appreciation that I was living in an age of prosperity never experienced before. I have a friend who once claimed he loved anime. Over the years, he consistently found the anime shows superior to what he found on television. Had one I wore in first and second year. Lads in class used to ask me for the time, it was the most attention I got from them. Then the battery ran out and I was too lazy to change it so I stopped wearing it. Want to wear it again now but it's gotten too small for my wrist. I had extra brackets for it but I don't know where they are, instead I found brackets for my brother's watch in the place they should have been.

I was on my parents VHI at the time and I got in the door privately and had the surgery done and over with in 2 days. But no longer on that.

Disagree with the minimum wage part however. I had a job a couple years ago that paid €9.60 an hour and it was hell. You're talking maybe 300 a week. Even outside of dublin if you want a car, and a comfortable life without living on the breadline this is not possible.
