Yes

Washington here. My life is still shit and I'm profoundly depressed. But it's a nice place to live.
>>
>>76550753
I honestly feel bad for pioneers. Died on the trails, travelled thousands of kilometres only to end up in a fucking desert lol
it was necessary though
>>
Not really. The Rockies are really shit for agriculture, most of the agricultural areas in the highlighted states must be artificially irrigated. These people only benefit from nice nature and other regions' agricultural and industrial performance. Also lol beaners in the entire southwest and chinks in Washington.

I really would've liked to discuss the matter in at least somewhat of a rational fashion, but apparently you're only going around insulting people who disagree with you.

>drive in air conditioned car from air conditioned house to air conditioned work or air conditioned mall
>HAR HAR I'M SO BADASS I CAN HANDLE THE HEAT
>>
>>76550841
They named it that knowing that it would be flooded with Mexicans again and return back to it's original country. Know your history
>>
>>76551330
But no one really thinks like that when deciding on places to live today. Unless you're a prepper or small farmer. The demographics could be a concern, but most of Northern California up to Washington (apart from SF, Seattle) are homogeneous.

The nature is incredible yes
>>
>>76551823
I don't have a car but okay.
Really it's not bad as long as you stay hydrated, that's the part the euros who come here and die fail to do.
>>
>>76551942
But people should think like that. You never know when dependency on local production is going to be crucial again, and then all those air conditioned geriatrics in Phoenix will starve and burn to a crisp. Millions of Germans had a better chance of survival and life quality after the war because of small scale farming in backyards, and to this day we have a culture of allotments.

I absolutely agree and don't know what people are thinking moving to places like Pheonix. If it's only going to get hotter and drier it is a terrible idea. Even places in California, like the Sierra Nevada where I grew up, would be terrible if they get drier because of forest fires. Plus Arizona would be overrun with refugees from Central America in event of a happening or severe climate change. Washington, away from Seattle of course, sounds good in this situation. I'm thinking of moving to Europe (should be getting birthright citizenship in Baltic country soon) but it seems to crowded to find an equivalent to rural Washington/Far South Alaska/other bug out spots. Is there a place with a good combination of remoteness but not too brutal of weather?

Ok enough paranoia
>>
>>76552183

You do realize we are the biggest exporter of food in the world right. Why would we prioritize backyard gardens when we have such a surplus.

Maybe you wouldn't have to waste so much time fulfilling such a basic requirement if you had gotten that lebensraum you wanted so much.

Sweden, everything north of Stockholm is really empty, population density similar to Colorado or less, and the climate near the baltic coast is actually relatively mild. Only unusual thing would be the more extreme changes in daylight across the seasons since it's so far up north. I live on almost the same latitude as Calgary, and almost all the US is more southern than Germany, and Sweden is further north still.
>>
>>76552183
if something catastrophic happens, most of the US is just fucked anyways, depending on how severe. If we didn't have access to heating, cooling or artificial irrigation, everywhere except the pacific northwest would be screwed
>>
>>76553694
Pacific northwest here. Feels good man.
>>
>>76553467
>>76553694
Yeah, Pacific Northwest is more along the lines of what I'm thinking - rarely below freezing but plenty of rain. I suppose Sweden is mild compared to many northern places but surviving in below freezing, dark winter's sounds rough.

Ireland's similar to north Washington I think, but then you're stuck on a fairly dense island next to huge populations
>>
>>76554477
What are some good towns/small cities to move to in Washington? I think that's where I'd head if I were to stay in US. I am a cancerous (Northern) Californian, sorry
>>
>>76554705
On behalf of Washington, fuck off, we're full.

Grew up as kind of redneck hippie in the culture of Sierra Nevada mountains. Now 7 years in Bay Area has me trying to avoid a hard right turn, but really I just want to be left alone with a wholesome family and have no interest in telling others what to do.

Don't know who this guy is >>76555712
but wouldn't think Washington would dislike far right that much
>>

Redneck hippie is fine. Far right is cancer and AIDS. We don't need or want /pol/ memes here.

>>76556648
Hey neighbor

>>76556489
Sounds great, but if the climate heats up and dries out that'd be rough. Also probably going to be overrun by migrants when shit hits the fan. Plus would they welcome Americans at all? I went to Capri one time and that was incredible

How's life in Wyoming?
>>
>>76557926
More sheep than people for one.
>>
>>76557926
Probably shit. People romanticize living in places like this more than they should. Yeah it's pretty, but there's fuckall to do. Suicide rates in Wyoming and Montana are sky high. People evolved as social creatures, not loners.

I really do miss the "smoke a blunt, do what you want, it's awwwright" brand of liberalism. Do we even still have them anywhere in the state?
>>
>>76557428
OK, so maybe the coast is more similar politically to CA than I thought. Anywhere off the coast here tends to be Trump territory, minus the redneck hippies I previously mentioned. I was a bernout but now the idea of open immigration and trying to implement a more socialist state seems like madness. Plus being around a bunch of angry people in Berkeley.
>>76558362
Humboldt/Menodcino of course, then some towns in the Tahoe area. But then not everyone. Cities? I don't know if that still exists.
>>
>>76558346
Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure many people in Finland would love that area.
>>
>>76550753
Not really
>>
>>76558362
In the sierras it's like that a little bit but it's mostly the odd hippie couple still stuck the 70s and maybe tourists.

Most of the hardcore residents are either gun toting retired folks or gun toting meth addicts.
>>
>>76559133
Are you in Placer or Nevada counties? I don't know other parts well enough to know the culture
>>
>>76550753
>being born in a hot fucking desert

No
>>
>>76561454
I'm in El Dorado but I travel down to Tuolumne on occasion.

IME the retired people-to-methhead ratio is inversely proportional to how close you are to Stockton and Modesto. Similar to mendocino but more weed less meth.

I want to check out Placer county. I applied for a county job there recently hopefully I get a callback.
>>
>>76557926
Minnesota is really similar to Finland: I think you would like that state the best.
>>
>>76561688
Ok, I was in the El Dorado national forest recently and it was great. Ice house reservoir I think? Placerville seemed more like Auburn than the more hippy Nevada City, but I only passed through. You're probably spot on about being closer to Central Valley cities equating to meth and whatnot. Being close to Tahoe probably has a better effect. There was very little meth where I lived, mostly weed, mushrooms and the like. Then conservative families/old people
>>
>>76561781
Cold and swampy, in a comfy way, yeah, good call tbqh.
>>
>>76562229
Yeah I live very close to a similar reservoir, it's very beautiful.

When I lived in Tuolumne I was about an hour and a half from Yosemite and only went once. Now I'm the same distance to Tahoe it's awesome.
>>
>>76552460
>Washington, away from Seattle of course
Have fun in white trash junkieland.
>>
>>76554910
None. Every town/city outside of Seattle is a shithole just like every other small town/city in the country without an industry.
>>76554705
Ireland's actually pretty empty for historical reasons.
>>76555712
We're full. You can't afford it here anyway, Cletus.
>>76556266
I know the feeling; when I spent a few years in the Bay as a teen, I went full libertarian just as a reaction against the champagne liberalism over there. Forming an ideology as a reaction to a different radical ideology is never a good idea, though.

I wouldn't recommend moving to Washington; there's nothing outside of Seattle, and Seattle is becoming Silicon Valley 2.0. I'd recommend Oregon if you can find a good job there. Even Portland is surprisingly ideologically diverse, and the whole Western side of the state is comfy as fuck. Eugene or Bend might be what you're looking for.
>>
>>76557926
Absolutely horrible. Most of the state is virtually uninhabitable and suffers from crippling poverty, the '''''towns'''''' consist of like five trailers in a circle, and the biggest '''cities''''''' are tiny and full of drugs with no good jobs in sight. It's so empty that a rest stop is considered a settlement. But it's absolutely beautiful, in a desolate way. Truly the Wild (mid)West.
>>
>>76563233
Olympia is nice, man. I like it anyway. Whidbey Island would be nice too if you're into that.
>>
>>76563391
>(mid)West
Wyoming is nowhere near the Midwest you mong. Why do so many Americans have trouble with this?
>>
>>76563996
All flyovers are Midwestern to me.
>>
>>76563956
>Olympia is nice
The scenery is gorgeous, but ime it seems like a really stagnant place. Whidbey Island sounds nice, though.
>>
>>76564391
Whidbey is probably a lot more stagnant than Olympia, if you're concerned about that, but it sure is pretty, and I'm told it's a nice chill place to live. Oly seems like it would have some shit going on for a small town but I could be wrong about that. If I could live in ANY small Washington town I'd do Friday Harbor, but there's absolutely zero work there.
>>

No.

Utahfag here. It's fucking hot outside and I want to die!

But then winter will come out of nowhere and I'll be complaining about the bitter cold.

Fuck this place.
>>
>>76565518
Are you Mormon?I have a friend (a Seattle liberal like me) who moved to SLC a year or two ago and was surprised to find that he actually loves it there. I've only ever driven through Utah. Stopped to take a shit in Ogden. It's very pretty but Mormons give me the creeps.

>>
>>76550753
None of those states are nice except California. They might have really beautiful nature but they are either too damn cold or are desert. Southern California (NOT LOS ANGELES) is the perfect place on the west coast.
>>
>>76557926
literally the wild west
>>
>>76563233
