Why is English so hard to learn ?
Because British English is shit
>>76482612
Because American English removed the French parts
>>76482554
because they don't have an alphabet that matches their sounds.
>>76482554
It isn't hard at all.
>>76482554
it's the easiest language to learn
Is it really though?
>>76482612
Our English isn't any different from theirs, they have commonly used phrases that we of course don't use, and vice versa, but that's not unusual.
The only part that differs is their failure to standardize a common elocution
>>76482554
It's pretty easy to write, read and speak, but I sometimes struggle to understand it when spoken (by natives or not).
>>76482709
>failure to standardize a common elocution
What does this mean?
>>76482724
It's only difficult to understand certain regional British dialects. American dialects are all pretty easy to understand.
>>76482709
>The only part that differs is their failure to standardize a common elocution
is that why yanks all have that annoying mix of whine and irish?
How many anons here be fluent in Ebonics?
>>76482763
It means you need to go back to school I suppose, or just go back in general more likely.
The generic American phonological palette is fucking awful, you all sound like you're trying to push words through your nose
>>76482793
I have a tinge of a British accent for some reason... I've never even left the United States
>>76482793
I wonder which I should find more insulting
To be honest, I'm so glad I'm a native speaker, so I don't have to remember the 100,000 different prepositional verbs and phrases. Looking at them, it all seems extremely arbitrary.
>>76482877
>you all
Y'all*
>>76482644
Also, this.
Spelling reform never, because MUH TRADITION
>>76482644
that's not at all true, as I can derive how things are to sound from how it is written
you lost again mario
>>76482554
Spoken French is very hard to comprehend. Hardest of any language.

Congrats, you're the dumbest muthafucka on this beautiful side of the internet.
>>76483047
Agreed, it's unfailingly inscrutable.
>>76482999
>helping to standardize the only sane second person plural pronoun in the language
Thank god for you
>>76483093
Now, that you're here, I must modestly surrender that title.
>Be Aussie lad
>Decide to learn Russian
>Now drowning in gorgeous slavic women
Life's not so bad)))))
>>76482554
It's not. It's probably the easiest language to learn, ever. Try learning German and then come back to me.
You're just a dumb frenchie wiz ze french accente, n'est pas?
>>76482999
>Y'all*

Not a grammar nazi, but please, there is not even any effort in using the proper apostrophe
>>76483738
U wot m8
>>76482763
Basically Brits pronounce a lot of words rather oddly compared to us. Our vowels are much more consistent and intuitive than brits.
Well, try Portuguese. After trying Portuguese, you'll beg to study English.
