I was talking with an american friend of mine the olther day, the conversation was about minorities in Europe and how are they treated, especialy the gipsies. When she listened my opinions about them (you can imagine it) she said that i'm a dirty racist, and that those people probably behave like fucking subhumans because they feel segregated by the rest of the society, and that basically they're poor victims of the system and that they totally have the right to defend their "culture" and their traditions. I then tried to list some classic examples of gipsy's pure malevolence, like sending their kids to beg in the streets instead of making them study, stealing the furniture of the apartments that the government gives them, child marriage, copper stealing, etc.. she just replied that europeans should be more comprehensive towards them, and then started a rant about how black people and native americans are badly treated in the Us, that I really didn't listen.

The girl is clearly dumber than a pair of dumbbells, but I can understand her reaction: since she never really saw a gipsy in her entire life, and she thinks they are some kind of "european native americans" that live their life free wandering around the continent, singing songs to the Moon, having parties and breeding horses. So, the question is: how do we properly explain what a "gipsy" is to a non-european?
