i'm not even antisemitic but this is a major issue anyways i'll try to talk about this topic without mentioning jews

there are several issues, in fact there are so fucking many of them i don't even know where to begin

many of our movies are not commercial, they are propped up by the state
their only goal is to promote ideology and as you can guess it's pretty bad since you don't make good movies with a flawed and dishonest ideology behind it

in practice this means actors get paid absolutely OUTRAGEOUS amounts (the average french movie is somehow twice as expensive as the average american movie) for movies that are commercial failures, all on the taxpayers' money

those are all trash comedies
there's a few salvageable ones like OSS 117 but most of it is terrible
if you want to know more you can watch : aladdin, camping, les tuche, qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au bon dieu

my conclusion is that french people have utterly shit taste in movies and will only go to the cinema for family-friendly stupid comedies
