Every European alive today is a descendant of every European that had children in the 9th century.
Meaning, if a Viking had a child, even if you're Italian, you're a descendant of that person.

If you count how many ancestors you have, e.g. grandparents, parents, great grand parents, etc. And considered each one to be a unique individual unrelated to the people they married, there would have had to have been a billion or more people living in 9th century Europe for you to exist.
This is obviously not true, meaning everyone in Europe must have inbred so hard that we all share the same ancestors. The maths is a bit complicated and Im sure someone else can explain it.
