Why is this book so higly rated? The prose is extremely dull and clumsy even for Hemingway. You have a discount Nick Adams with slight alterations hiking up some spanish hills. Describing them as dusty and loopy and shit. Oh and he's always called "Robert Jordan" because why not.
All characters have the vocabulary of an Orangutan.
Love affair is established on two pages by pretty much all the characters. Followed by Hem's worst ever sex scene.
Is there any point in continue reading? It's the only Hemingway book I haven't finished yet, but so far it's on par with Across the River and Into the Trees, that is, competely demented.
