Everyone thinks we are a little Caribbean country because we are too irrelevant, but sometimes a single makes lot of success in Europe like "Ai se eu te pego"

In fact there is a huge country genre tradition in the czech republic. It started after the 2nd ww, when us soldiers liberated Pilsen, the us influance was great back then and hundreds of country music bands appeared. They either took classic country songs from us and translated or made their own but they all sang about cowboys, indians, wildwest etc.
The influance was so huge it even spread a bit to slovak republic, which has a strong and specially rich folklore music/dance tradition. I know dozen of these czech county bands from the 50's, 60's, 70's (the golden era of that subculture). My father used to play some (czech) country songs when i was little. I think nowhere else in the world happened culture addaptation in this way ever. It is very interesting, search 'czech woodcraft' or 'czech country' for more info. Some czech coumtry bands: Greenhorns, Rangers, bratři ryvolove...
I hardly know any original american country, though i would recognize most of the melodies( because they were used in the czech translated versions)
