I don't want to talk about genetics, although I don't really consider those subgroups "French". About the name Belgium: Our old Republic was called Belgica Foederata in Latin and even the name of our American colony was Nova Belgica. Belgium is not directly called after the tribe, but after one of the accepted names for the Low Countries. Belgium and the Netherlands are just synonyms.
