Why Americans love NASCAR so much?

You don't like watching cars going in ovals over and over again?
I have no idea. I was "lucky" enough to watch a NASCAR race in real life when I was in the States a few years ago.
>people sitting and eating junkfood watching cars go round and round
Meanwhile I'm so used to events like Gatebil that is was almost killing me of boredom.
I mean come on.. Identical cars going left, left left.. Or thousands of insane, one of a kind cars going absolute apeshit to live music and all categories of racing you can imagine? Easy pick.
Enjoy some Gatebil Mantorp (where I live)

Their brain is too little to conceive that cars turn in 2 directions.

All those volvos.
it's actually a difficult sport. Imagine making one long turn for 500 miles, losing ten pounds in water weight and being subjected to high levels of heat - all at 200 mph. Yeah, the fans are dumbass junk food eaters but the same could be said of baseball, American football - even the English Premier League.

>cheap
>rwd
>extremely easy to work on
>can handle 500+ hp without a problem
>parts in every shop here
Whats not to like?
I own one my self.

that engine isn't going to last long at 500 hp
>what are head gaskets
>what is viscosity breakdown
>is my crank shaft made of kyrptonite

>last long
My first version had 410-415 hp on the crank.
4 years no problems. The B230E can take it.
Now I'm fitting a T5 engine from a 850 R.
Those are known to runt 1000+ hp and more for long periods of times without much problems. 500 hp isn't a problem. Therei s probably 1500+ Volvo's runnting those engines here in Sweden with insane power.

For example.
And even if it doesn't last long, who cares?
It's not my everyday driver.
My old Caprice which my dad built with a small block had to be re-built every two weeks running gas and 950 hp with fat tires.

And sorry about my damn English, I'm drunk.
>>76318926
you seriously dino'd a caprice at 950 hp?
also I'm drunk too
>>76318974
Yep, completely stripped, blower and more parts than I could remember.
My dad ran it for 3-4 years with 7-800 hp at most, my brother did some work on it and started running gas. Fucking thing took off like a rocket.
Ran the Stockholm Open (Street drag on open highways, check it out on Youtube) and came 2nd, ran a 7.9 on the 1/4 mile my self with it.
The the engine pretty much nuked it self when doing a warm up run.

I'm shocked it lasted that long. Kudos to you Sven.

I know you guys love V8s and straight racing. It's good fun. I'll probably run next year again. Gotta Dodge Dart in the makings.
Why do they consider turn left a sport?
