I've heard Colombians have the clearest, easiest to understand Spanish accent. Is this true?

I live in Arizona and after four years of spanish classes I can only barely understand the Mexican population here. I however did travel to Ecuador like two months ago, and could understand every word they said. I don't know if Quito just doesn't have very esoteric slang or what, but they had the ""purest"" spanish I have ever heard
