Bu hao yisi, my name is Ken xiansheng.

I’m a 27 year old American Chinaboo (China fan for you laowais). I paint guohua and shufa on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Chinese games. (weiqi, xiangqi and shuttlecock)

I train with my cai dao every day, this superior weapon can cut clean through yang cong (onions for you yang guizis) because it is made from scrap iron, and is vastly superior to any other chef's knife on earth. I earned my gou rou cooking license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Chinese fluently, both Mandarin and Cantonese, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Chinese history and their confucian code, which I follow 100%

When I get my Chinese visa, I am moving to Shenzhen to work in a prestigious sweatshop to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become slave labor or a CCP member!

I own several zhongshan suits which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to China so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Chinese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in China!

Cao Ni Ma, my name is Laoshi Smith.

I’m a 27 year old American Sinophile (Middle Kingdom enthusiast for you laowai). I draw caligraphy and ink wash paiting on my tablet, and spend my days perfecting my art and playing superior Taiwanese games. (Cytus, Deemo)

I train with my Kinmen knife every day, this superior weapon can cut through commie's skull because it is made from American artillery shells, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my sword license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Taiwanese fluently, both the Mandarin and Minnanese, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Taiwanese history and their Fujianese traditions, which I follow 100%

When I get my Taiwanese visa, I am moving to Taipei to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a bubble tea maker or bin lang tree farmer!

I own several Hanfu outfits, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Taiwan, so I can fit in easier. I keep lamenting about how Chinese culture was lost with Mao commie scums and speak Taiwanese Mandarin as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

I’m a 27 year old American Taiwanaboo (RoC fan for you adogahs). I run over old ladies and dogs on my scooter, and spend my days perfecting my karaoke and consuming superior Taiwanese products (bubble tea, binlang and lu lou huan).

I train with my milk powder tin every day, this superior formula can smash clean through your liver because it is imported from New Zealand and is vastly superior to any fresh milk on earth. I earned my blue truck driving license two years ago and I have been driving worse every day.

I speak Taiwanese fluently, both hokkien and hakka, and I write zhengtizi and bopomofo fluently as well. I know everything about Taiwanese history and their musical garbage trucks, which I follow to toss my trash in

When I get my permanent ARC, I am moving to Xinzhuang to work in a scooter repair workshop to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become a chou doufu hawker or an english teacher!

I own several pairs of crocs which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Taiwan so I can fit in easier. I blame everything on mainlanders and speak Taiwanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Hola amigos!, my name is Don Ken de la Smith,

I'm a 27 year old American hispanista (Spain expert for all you guiris). I collect unemployment funds for work, and spend my days playing superior Spanish games. (Frontón, pilota valenciana, toreo de salón and mus).

I train with my toothpick every day, this superior weapon can pierce through all kinds of olives because they are made from Roman-era olive trees, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth. I earned my tapeo license two years ago, and I have been getting better every day.

I speak Spanish fluently, both Castellano and the cani dialect, and I write fluently as well. I know everything about Spanish history and their hidalgo code, which I follow 100%.

When I get my Spanish visa, I am moving to Madrid to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become unemployed or a civil servant!

I own several trajes de luces, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I go to Spain, so I can fit in easier. I live in my parents' house and speak Spanish as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Wish me luck in Spain!

>It is the crashes that (partly) create the bubbles. Without the crashes, we wouldn’t even be talking about the great stock bubble of 1929, the great Dotcom bubble of 2000, or the great housing bubble of 2006. A decade later, it turned out that these were not actually bubbles in the first place. Stocks and housing prices are at all time highs. I don’t hear people talking about the Australian housing bubble of 2006. In the longterm, bubbles simply don't exist.

When something gets wrong, china can be the reason somehow though
About hk, the pollution is created in north and mostly blown through east china sea to japan sea and settles at japan sometimes, while some blows to korea according to gooks and denying their own pollution
I'd say it's bullshit
>>
>>76205715
I think that a crash and a bubble share many similarities.
You can't have an uninterrupted, always growing economy.
Anybody who thinks that is either a madman or an economist.
A slow but steady growth is better than a fast one that later can't be supported by other economies.
>>
>>76205660
Ok, thanks!
>>
>>76205828
The HK central university released a study with Green Peace that put 65% of HK's air pollution on local sources like cars and ships.

So yeah, there's a tendency for non-Chinese and "superior" Chinese to blame the mainland for everything wrong. This happens really often in Hong Kong, and it triggers me.

You said you are Japanese, but you understand Chinese very well.

>>76205835
I am arguing that 1929, 2000, and 2008 were irrational market crashes, not irrational market bubbles.

Who determines "fundamental prices"? I'd argue that the market does.

If all asset prices today are far higher than even in 2000 or 2008, were those irrational bubbles or irrational market crashes? I'd say history will agree that they were crashes precipitated by investors turning a bear market into an outright collapse.

That's the problem with the China bubble meme. They add $2 trillion each year. In a decade they'll have added $20 trillion. Everything is relatively cheap today compared to a decade from now.
>>
>>76206072
typo
Investors becoming speculators*

Bull and bear markets are normal and healthy (20% up or down). 70-80%? No.
>>
>>76206072
>Who determines "fundamental prices"? I'd argue that the market does.
When it comes to investment, wild speculation can push prices up well beyond what they should be. That is a bubble. The South Sea Company bubble for example was a case where the value of South Sea Company shares was flagrantly exaggerated well beyond what investors could reasonably expect to make on actual company profits, so the only way to profit from the shares was to sell them on to someone else at a ludicrous price, which eventually crashed as people started cashing out and those left holding shares having bought them realized they could never make their money back because the company could only send one ship a year to the South Sea.

Thanks to japanese regarding people born and raised in japan but not """yamato""" to be absolute pure 120% foreigner, it made me study about china more and felt more chinese than i could in elsewhere, including china when I'm back there sometimes
>>
>>76206422
I understand, but that South Sea Company and a stock market that represents a nation of 320 million people are not the same thing.

I'm not arguing bubbles are nonexistent. Look at the Nikkei in Japan. 60% down 27 years later.

I'm arguing that just as many bubbles are simply irrational market crashes.

There are no "fundamental" prices. The market determines them. If so, then explain what the fundamental prices are for the S&P 500.
My argument is called The Efficient Market Hypothesis. I don't buy it in all cases, but it generally is more accurate than any single person's guesses.

>>76206732
Ahhh very interesting. Keep being happy and learning amigo.

I read that there are about 800,000 Chinese and 900,000 Koreans in Japan. Nowadays there are more and more Vietnamese, Nepalese, and Filipinos coming, but the overall percentage is only 2% of the population.

What is the CCP's endgame really though? I mean, it's safe to say the people of Taiwan are never going to to wake up and think "wtf I hate freedom now", and the KMT and the pan-blue coalition keeps suffering in the polls for it. Do they really want to militarily or diplomatically force over 20 million people into their country who don't want to be there? That would be an even bigger shitstorm than the Xinjiang separatist situation.

>Yankees shouldn't be allowed to express theie opinion on other countries
tbf this is pretty common among all the countries. Traditionally, public affairs should be discussed in a public sphere where its own and independent information sources exist and people can freely express there opinions, by saying "freely" I mean there isn't anything that would affect people‘s thinking such as agenda setting. While the coming of industrial capitalist era create things like mass media and consumerism which commercializes information and public discussions, people gradually lose their ability to acquire and process information individually and they directly "consume" the information that mass media offer them instead. All the aforementioned disintegrate the public sphere which is an important section that exists between state apparatus and individuals to criticize policies

The real question is what is Taiwan's endgame? Their window of opportunity for reunification under favorable terms was the late eighties/early nineties. Now they're pretty much stuck hoping to prolong their de facto independence as much as possible, de jure independence is a pipe dream. Meanwhile their economy's been steadily going to shit while the mainland's has been improving so China's got everything to win by playing the waiting game.

Realistically China's handling of and interference in Hong Kong has pissed away any chance it had of peacefully reintegrating Taiwan under one country two systems. The only way Taiwan could countenance any kind of reunification is if the PRC democratizes and loosens up on civil liberties the same way the ROC did under Chiang Ching-kuo.

They're not gonna invade it or anything unless the DPP goes full retard. That's what the 2005 law essentially acknowledged, we are inacapable of beating the USA so use international politics and economic isolation policies to maintain the status quo.

I have been to a public library several times. I sometimes felt like to read the general and brief history of foreign countries I heard of.

Today I read two outdated books in the "rarely used books" section. They were from the same series of a publisher. They are "A brief history of Eastern Europe" and of Russia. They are all in fact first written and published in China with very few changes for the Taiwanese edition

What I really want to say is, despite I said several times that Taiwanese book publishing heavily relied on Japan, I actually cannot tell the degree of dependence we have on china, not to mention that some Japanese books are also translated by Chinese.

What I really really want to say is, I sometimes read comments that "china and Taiwan have separated for too long that their technical terms are completely divided". Well that's true in the science and tech sectors, but less true in general topic such as history.

Ireland has a better economy than the UK since 1985 or so.

A better example is North Ireland, and that example leans towards unification. I'd say that no one knows what is gonna happen, but the CCP leadership just wants the status quo to continue until China is at least developed.
>>

CCP policy with HK and Taiwan (we all use RoC at Georgetown since it is more accurate) has been extremely intelligent and realistic. Since about 2005 they've played their hand as well as they could've, despite the meme that they are stupid or counterproductive.
>>

>Taiwan is meaningless on a geopolitical
Taiwan forms part of the American strategic encirclement trying to keep China boxed in from the sea and unable to meaningfully project power into the Pacific, of which the other components are South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and Singapore. That's part of why China is so obsessed with the bullshit nine dash line, controlling the South China Sea islands is one of the few ways to break through the encirclement if America ever decides to blockade them.
>>
>>76209346
>If economics was all it took to make people give up their national identity
Give me a break, this isn't about national identity and never was. The whole "Taiwanese identity" LARPing is essentially a product of party politics (the DPP's main game) and a will to spite the PRC.
>>
>>76210270
Let's look at the basic historical facts

1949-1975 RoC was never gonna rejoin with the PRC. They hated each other and the PRC was far more powerful.
1975-1988 - CKK followed the same policies as his father for the first decade but he understood that with Deng's reforms, the PRC was gonna outrun the RoC within the next few decades. Therefore he looked to democratization with a very pro-KMT constitution to convince the US to support the RoC more. He didn't want a pro-independence overthrow of the KMT dictatorship.
1988-2000, RoC democratized. Nonetheless the KMT forged multiple status-quo consensuses with the PRC. That was because they understood that the "China" of the future would be economically connected.
200-2008- a crapshoot. The work of CKK constrained the pro-independence factions all the while the economic connections grew.
2008-2016, Ma and PRC expanded economic and social and political ties. He also reinstated the language connections.
2016-present, the DPP government has been constrained once again by previous KMT policies. There is no changing the status quo back towards the 1995-2004 period of increasing independence.

The CCP leadership has engineered this reality with the KMT. As long as the status quo continues, the CCP doesn't care. Time is to the PRC's advantage, and if it is not, the Taiwan issue is far less important than good US-China relations and East Asian economic development.
>>
I don't see unilateral reunification happening as long as we are #1 superpower
>>

At the same time, I wouldn't downplay how much the US position in the Pacific has been weakened by Trump.

Just in the last three months
1. South Korea leaning towards China
2. ASEAN China south China Sea agreement
3. Japan joining AIIB and Belt and Road
4. Phillipines signining military and economic cooperation agreements with China.
5. RCEP nearly complete.
6. Trump's gambit with NK has vanished from the political scene all the while China and the USA are cooperating and making trade agreements.

All of this will he meaningless though if Trump goes crazy and starts trade wars and actual wars. Unpopular first term presidents always start wars.

>"It’s so funny because in the countryside it seems natural and it seems clean and it seems lovely, and here this is just poverty-struck, and so not natural."

>It’s easy for Westerners and/or upper class people to think they know what’s best for the poor. But unless they’ve actually lived that life, they may end up substituting aesthetic judgments for utilitarian criteria. The Mongolians had to decide whether their country was going to be a place of yurts, or a place full of large open pit mines and cities with high-rise apartment buildings. They chose the latter. The Mongolian she interviewed pointed out that Mongolians wanted to live in these modern apartment buildings because “they don’t have to make fire anymore, they don’t have to carry water anymore.” They moved to the city to increase their chances of getting a modern place to live. (Although it looks like most face a long wait.)

Went to a doctor in Taiwan once with a big fat cyst on my asscheek and a weird swollen armpit (guess it was some sort of abscess as well from all the sweating and rubbing on the backpack strap)
He looked at me with a gunked up plastic magnifying glass for 2 seconds, took be behind a curtain, checked out my ass, pointed at "cyst" on an english book for me and I left with some weird cream and thousands of pills
not sure what he gave me but it worked

i heard taiwanese doctors just pump you full with pills for any random shit

but I like that the pharmacy is always part of the doctor, can get your stuff right away
>>
>>76223421
I had a pilonidal cyst and the doctor in America basically did the same thing (antibiotics).

Rarely are they serious enough to warrant draining.

1. It's not meeting the cost and there are talent drain. Doc and nurses would rather go to other countries.
2. To cap the cost many advanced treatments or medicines such as the new drugs for cancers aren't covered
3. it will surely collapse
4. it will raise premium

The previous good service seeems to be based on a booming economy and wouldn't work on current economy

Fujian and Taiwan are culturally very different, food geography and language have quite significant differences too
>>
>>76241233
it depends on where in Fujian you visit, southern Fujian and southern Taiwan are basically the same where are both inhabited by people originate from 泉州 and 漳州. They both speak Hokkien and adopt 闽南 culture, while languages and cultures are indeed quite different and complex in terms of northern Fujian and Taiwan. Once a Taiwanese told me that the only people that Tainan people would treat them as families and countrymen is people from 泉漳厦 that speak Hokkien

You need to reread my post anon. At least click the link before responding.

Republic of China and People's Republic of China are different.
>>
>>76219567
Mmmmm nope

US hispanics have a much more equal (AKA almost all of them are poor) income distribution than other ethnic groups.

Furthermore, the 17% average difference is huge. That's the difference between €30,000 (Spainards) and €36,000 (American spics).
So if anything, they are very similar in median GDP per capita.

>>76223175

The Northwest region is far better nowadays than in 2000. Xinjiang grew 20% of GDP every year since 2000. $300 - $8,000 per capita.
You picked a shitty example. Pick the one child policy or air pollution at least.

They have this very East Asian look. All the civilized East asians have it, and I think the cancerous South Koreans developed it.

Source? Also
Wealth isn't nearly as important as income. 20% of Spaniards are unemployed and have been since 2012. Spics have been 5-10%.

We need to find a better source on this issue. What I do think is true is that Spaniards have a significantly better quality of life, yet that difference with American hispanics might not be as big as expected.

Credit Suisse's Global Wealth Databook.

Spanish are wealthier as a whole due to a very high home ownership rate (80%) and low debt. Owning property is what has allowed your average Spaniard to ride out recession/unemployment.

Okay I see

Wealth is based on net wealth here. So maybe if you live with more debt the living standards can be higher even if your net wealth is lowered.

I'm gonna go with spaniards having better quality of life, but it not being as big of a gap as initially expected.

Everywhere outside the cities in Spain looks like it got stuck in the Franco era.

Vale. Originalmente soy de Estados Unidos y ahora estoy en Madrid también. 40* cada día =[
