I was reading this uplifting article about Britain's increasing diversity.

and then at uni, during freshers week, i just had this really sudden epiphany that I wasn't cut out for it. I struggled with it at first, spending the entire second year of uni depressed because I just couldn't enjoy or naturally flourish in normal situations. But by the third year and my masters, i found that i could handle having a small group of friends to do day to day activities with.

during my final year, i used to pass notes to this nerdy girl with little jokes about the lecturer on them.

she apparently fancied me, but i didnt really like her. instead i just used her as a friend, and then coopted some of her wider friendship circle. for the most part i just talked about classes or uni stuff we had in common, and told jokes.

at my masters, everyone was foreign and seemed keen to make friends, so pretty much just by turning and asking people about their countries whilst talking about uni/day-to-day stuff. I got my first ever gf from doing this (Though that's a far more complicated story)

as of late I have no friends as a wagey. I'm in a new town and I don't know where to meet people (nor am I that bothered about it.
