So widespread enough to be considered like any other cartoon. It sure has its spike in the past recent years. Many people also who cosplay and people who are Otaku.

I think a lot of teenagers go through anime phases too. I and many of my friends did when we were teenagers. I'm a high school teacher and I see the same thing now, anime is overly represented amongst teens.

In my mind, a fixation on anime that lasts into adulthood means that person has a fairly immature mind or doesn't want to grow up. There is a fair bit of decent anime, but generally it is trash and anyone over the age of 20 should realise that.
