Most of the British plumbing was installed prior to WW1. These old pipes are too fragile to handle the water pressure required to flush a poo. This means that if you poo in the loo it is likely only half the poo will flush, or the poo may jam the pipes. For this reason many british people just poo in the shower or bath and usually stomp on the shit to make sure it fits through the drain.
