Hey /int/elligent guys. I'm panning on visiting Moscow, St Petersburg and Kiev in November/December and I was looking for tips on what kind of clothing to bring/purchase for the trip?
We have pretty warm winters these days. Temperature will be around -5 C

Alaska
how much are winter clothes in australia?
I'd think they would be a lot because you have no need for them and shipping is expensive
should just buy some cheap chink stuff in russia, should be better prices
boots and socks are the big thing if it's cold

Yeah, can't stress this enough. I went to NK in the middle of winter (reached up to -20) and only wore 1 pair of normal shitty socks, vans and jeans. It was gay as aids. Buy a thermal undershirt/underwear.

The Canadian is right, don't buy in Pingstralia, buy in Russia. It'll be cheaper.
Couple of things.
1. You want winter, go to Novosibirsk, not Moscow/St.Petersburg.
2. Thermal shirt/leggings are a must.
3. Breathing technique in the cold is necessary. Do not let frigid air flood your lungs, not even once, it's a recipe for a catastrophe. Get a good scarf. You're not used to cold locals they are.
4. Do not shave. Oils on your skin are removed when you do.
5. Buy single-finger style gloves instead of those with all separate fingers
6. Avoid any alcohol outside, drink alcohol inside.
Couple of more things:
7. In Russia cars your biggest enemies, BEWARE of them like Satan's beware of holy water. This isn't a joke, it's v e r y easy to die there.
8. NEVER approach a parked car from behind on a parking. These people are nuts, they'll rush backwackwards when taking off.
9. Use Russian, English isn't welcome in Russia...or at least it wasn't when I was there last.
10. Try some bliny and kvas :DDD
