Germans are among the happiest people regarding their economic situation. Accord to PEW research, they are much happier than Americans.
How can this be when the cost of living and median incomes are significantly higher in Germany?

woops, i mean to say cost of living is higher in germany and median incomes are higher in the USA
Maybe money really buys happiness
Well, that and the 29 paid holidays.
Maybe there are more important things than making more and spending less
Americans are poor as fuck.
Median income means nothing when averaging someone who makes 60k vs 20k.
I don't think the cost of living is higher here. I heard of people who live in the bay area who barely get by with 100.000+ in income because of student loans and high housing prices. If you earn 70k in Germany you usually don't have money issues of any kind.

Everyone moves to the cities to try and make more money here so cities naturally have higher demand on housing.

To add to that, Americans also work a lot more than us with contributes to the higher wages. You see in the picture that we work a lot less and almost make the same per hour.
You leave college debt free, you never have to worry about being able to afford health care or a minimum retirement. You have mandatory paid vacation and maternal leave.
