And from what I heared they didn't talked about it with anyone except fellow ex-soilders from time to time. Oh and they served all in the Heer as I said, the germany army had different commands for Army (Wehrmacht) and Airforce (Luftwaffe).

And there was little to none left for them when they returned, the US pumped a lot of money and supplies into west germany but only because they thought that WW3s frontline would be germany between east and west.
Thats how we could rebuild the infrastructure in no time.
A good amount of the male population died in the war, fast growing economy, they wheren't unemployed for long, not like after WW1.
