That wasn't honouring alliance, it was simply leaving Poland to get eaten by Germany. Polish army retreated on Eastern territories and held the Germans there at Brześć, Germans were already low on oil and ammunition and the Polish morale was big because of that.
They were also waiting for the Franco-British offensive to launch their own Polish one.
