Everyone can read nordic runes. No big deal. The issue would be reading a runestone. All fucking they lack vowels and people at the time could narely read the messages

Varg is lucky if he can't read runestones because some of the runestones (like Greece Runestones) could cause him heart attack.
Many Norsemen were members of the famous Varangian Guard (elite bodyguards of the East Roman Emperors aka Greeks - 'non-whites' acc. to Varg) and there are runestones about them.
