I learned English in grade school, so I spoke general slightly-accented Northern US English for most of my life. But somehow when I moved from Toronto I became more Canadian, even though everyone around me still spoke the same. Now when I go home even my mom tells me I sound different.

Just so you know though you don't sound too posh, you sound like a middle-class Englishman, with a slight accent. I wouldn't hold it against you, it's better to have something that adds to your identity as a person
