First of all, Papadopoulos etc are surnames. Surnames became a thing at like 1000 AD
-poulos is from IIRC Latin pullus "child(animal)" - mainly Peloponnese
-akis is from -akios which is a diminutive - mainly Cretan
-ides is from -ides which is a diminutive - mainly Pontic
-ides is from -ades which is a diminutive - mainly in sea of Marmara
-oudes is diminutive - mainly Thrace, Macedonia
-elis is from italian/venetian -elli - mainly Lesbos
-ousis is from Chios
-oglu is from Turkish oglu meaning son - mainly Asia Minor
-atos is from Italian
