I don't know much about Chinese education but most of my young relatives in mainland China can speak some simple English like me, and my cousin can speak English better than me (He is a doctor now). On the mainland Chinese internet, most of the people only know some English words but there are still big amounts of people can speak decent English. On average, youths in Hong Kong know more English than mainland youths and youths in Hong Kong can pronounce English words more properly.
