This one is really cool. It also makes you spend five minutes on every sentence to figure out what it means.

At the moment I'm reading the biography of Stalin by Simon Sebag Montefiore. I can recommend it to anyone who is interested in the guy. Really good book thus far.

Reading this book will change your life forever. You will never see the world in the same way again.

If you seek intelligence and wisdom, I very much recommend it, if you seek happiness, contentment and peace of mind, avoid it like the plague, ignorance is bliss.

If you care to read books on a computer/tablet screen it's free online:

A brilliant book about a man wasting away in a lonely outpost waiting for an event that may or may not happen, with a few pages that really made me contemplate things and an ending like I love them most: sad to the bone.

If you want to see what is Democracy or you want to expose today's democrat LARPers you have to read:
1. Aristotle: Athenaion Politeia (Constitution of the Athenians)
2. Thucydides: Pericles' Funeral Oration (it's included in Book 2 of "History of the Peloponnesian War")
(FYI Spartans had elections every year, also they had something like referendums but they were NOT considered as Democrats)

Also:
Plato (everything)

The Communist manifesto sux, it is all politicizing and buzzwords,(it's a manifesto obviously) read Capital, that is economic, sociological and revolutionary science.

It really is a good read, and it will blow your mind, I already gave you links, if you don't wanna read it because lefties, then I can't help you, if you close your mind off to knowledge, even just knowing what the fucking book that the people you disagree with says, then I can't help you, sadly the vast majority of leftists (and people in general) haven't read the book and therefore don't really understand what it's all about, the whole point of it is that Marx takes these examples (which are real, from real life examples in his life which he had the documents for from ledgers and first hand accounts of people) like (I can never do this justice in a fuggin 4chan post)

>5000 african farmers grow and pick tons of cocoa beans every day and get like 20 cents an hour, working for a huge cocoa bean company, in a day one farmer picks like 50$ worth of cocoa bean but earns $2.40
>cocoa bean company sells it to mars candy co or whatever which also add nuts, which are picked by indian farmers for similar wages with a similar difference in worth of labour vs wages to make snickers or w/e, cocoa bean company makes a huge profit, and mars
>if the cocoa bean + nut companies use the profit to pay workers more, but other companies doing the exact same shit don't, the other companies win under the rules of capitalism because paying workers more lessens profit
>the other companies can then afford to replace the farmers with machines, always instead of using the machines to let the farmers do less work for the same pay because it's cheaper and the owners of the companies always want more money because if they don't the company might fail + greed
>this just spirals more and more and more as technology gets better
>the state is already working TO SUSTAIN THIS
>the state should do the reverse

>I can only earn real money through being the owner of something that generates money since..
>Time to buy VW

He's right you know, you can only reliably and in a "stable" way earn money intentionally exploiting other people and fucking them over at every turn, and the capitalist system is really easy to use to your own personal advantage and just "fuck the world, only I matter" etc. but ultimately even your self-interest is damaged.

Knowing this (especially having read some Marx and understanding his points well) you must try to live with yourself., and the damage you do to your own interest and the world.

That is the greatest challenge, if you read (and more importantly, understand) his works; You would understand that under a true Marxism there would be:

UNITED EUROPE UNITED WORLD
WIKILEAKS AND SNOWDEN FREE TO HELP THE WORLD
NO COPYRIGHT
FREE EDUCATION AT ALL LEVELS
FREE VIDEO-GAMES+PC PROGRAMS(LEGAL TORRENT)
FREE MOVIES AND TV
FREE HOUSING
FREE EBOOKS
FREE FOOD
FREE HEATING
FREE ELECTRICITY
FASTER DEVELOPMENT, BETTER USE VALUE OF COMPUTING + ALL OTHER TECHNOLOGIES (NO COPYRIGHT)
NO PREDATOR BANKS
NO DEBT
LEGAL (AND FREE) DRUGS
FREE HEALTHCARE
NO PRIVATIZED WATER/ELECTRICITY
YOU + OTHER WORKERS DECIDE WHAT/ HOW MUCH YOU DO AT WORK
DIRECT DEMOCRACY
NO COUNTRIES, NO BORDERS (CAN TRAVEL ANYWHERE ANYTIME)

Your problem is that you haven't actually read Marx yourself and only had other people (with an agenda and probably not understanding Marx, although your whiskey re-seller may be trustworthy) tell you about what the book says, that is perhaps the ultimate level of ignorance, delusion (and bliss). You know nothing, you don't have to do anything, other people can just decide, people that "know better", very comfortable.

Read it for yourself. When you have, you may disagree, or agree. At least you're not being told what to think by other people about the most important critique and analysis of our world, you're making your own decisions.

>1 book on philosophy

Not quite accurate, here is most of my completed ((philosophy)) books from memory

>Rest of Marx/Engels

Friedrich Nietzsche:
Thus Spake Zarathustra (5/10, struggled to finish too much bullshit parables)
Beyond Good and Evil (8.5/10, his masterpiece)
The Gay Science (3/10) mostly bullshit poetry, obviously insane and irrational by this time)

Arthur Schopenhauer:
The World as Will and Representation (7/10, good but a Hegel ripoff)

Slavoj Zizek:
The Sublime object of ideology (9/10 excellent book and a must read)
The fragile absolute (8/10) very good, but not for beginners.

Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel:
Phenomenology of Spirit (6/10, very "lost in translation" also misguided, but ofc old)
Science of Logic (9/10, fantastic, excellent read, but very "obvious" for modern people)
The Philosophy of History (10/10, MUST READ)

Max Stirner - The Ego and His Own (9/10, challenged my views, interesting, but a bit disjointed)

Jacques Lacan - Discipline and Punish (10/10, a mindblower no lesser than Marx, in my top 5 of all books ever)

What is your list btw? The wikipedia article for Mein Kampf and the introductory points from Plato and Socrates from middle school?

Also, this one. Don't necessarily agree with all the prescriptions, but as an investigation of power, it's excellent and approachable.

I am not sure that that is what your countryman said.
My interpretation was:
"Some of Marx's observations and analyses are right, but I do not have the same objections as he has to the world he describes."

Have you guys honestly read this book? My English vocabulary is pretty good but the way the book is written is on another level.
I had serious trouble trying to understand the book really.
>>
>>75616286
surely it's translated to boer/belgian or whatever it is you speak
>>
>>75616358
I want to read it in it's "'original state". Yes I'm aware he didn't write the book in English, but it's the closest / best translation.
>>
>>75616401
How would you know? You can't even understand the English version.

are you serious ?

I wouldn't, they're assumptions. A translation over a translation is usually less accurate than a direct one.

Either way, I just looked for the Dutch version and it doesn't exist except for the audiobook and one .pdf I found which -totally- does not match with the English version.

English version: http://www.constitution.org/mac/prince.pdf
Dutch version: http://www.dbnl.org/arch/otte005mach01_01/pag/otte005mach01_01.pdf

The first chapter looks nothing alike each other.

That's because the first link is one book, while the second link are two books.

Yeah I noticed it now. Who the fuck would put 2 books together anyway?
Thanks.

No problem. But it happens with compilations.
