I live not far.
It's mostly because during summer that highway gets ultra crowded and before the bridge the cars had to go through the town down in the valley, Millau
As a result there were huge traffic jams, pollution, and general nuisance for every tourist eager to get rid of this road and reach the beach, and for the coty inhabitants
And also it looks fucking cool
