I don't want to sound rude but I heard this stereotype and I'm curious if it's actually real.

I know a few people who moved from here to the south (florida, north carolina, etc.) and said that when they moved there and got a job they got in trouble for "working too hard". I know there's a stereotype of people where I live working themselves to death, but is this a thing? Are people from southern states just more laid back when it comes to working?
