During the late 1800's a bunch of brazilian rubber tree workers occupied bolivian territory and made a few colonies. The bolivians sent their army there and the settlers revolted, beating them back to their country and declaring the region independent. Then we "negotiated" the whole territory for ourselves for the cost of 2 million pounds and a few acres.
