crimea is de jure still part of ukraine since the outcome of the referendum is not recognized internationally
de facto it is a part of russia though, since it is fully under russian control now. crimeans have russian passports, pay taxes to the russian government, take part in russian elections etc.
it's just one of many territorial disputes in the world and will likely never be solved, so i think we should eventually accept the current status and stop bitching about it
