yeah, i dunno, it looks to me that they are comparable and it depends on the methodology of world bank vs credit suisse. one catch is several different distribution curves can produce the same value. oftentimes they are approximated by a well know distribution. most of the time it is based on the lorenz curve but not necessarily. sometimes the lorenz curve is not used and the gini is calculated based on the relative mean absolute difference which is kind of cheating if you think about it, because the consistent estimator may not be unbiased. so what they do is they usually calculate it based on the cumulative distribution function (actually the inverse of it, the quantile function). also, even if it is calculated based on the lorenz curve, often time the complete lorenz curve is not known so they use various approximations. i once wrote a python script with a trapezoid based approximation for that. quadratic functions are more accurate 2bh but it is harder to implement.
