I really don't know how to explain it that well because it's rather unique.
It's open world. You can travel all over to villages, castles, and towns. You do all sorts of stuff like recruiting and training soldiers, trading, fighting for your kingdom, etc. You can rise to lordship and your king may grant you land conquered from other kingdoms, you can then run the town/village/castle. You get tax revenue from your fiefs which makes you able to recruit more soldiers and build more improvements for your fiefs. The game also has a dynamic economy, you'll see fluctuations in the prices of goods. You can start businesses to make money as long as they stayed supplied and the market stays profitable. You're the general of your troops on the battlefield, mods let you get battle sizes of hundreds v. hundreds of soldiers. There obviously a lot more to do in the game, I'm just trying to say some of the tings you can do.
You can also become a king of your own kingdom and have your own vassals
