There's this old composer and musician called chava flores who used to write really beautiful songs about mexico city with a lot of wit and irony. A lot of the great Waltzes from the Diaz era were played with Banda.

El Recodo created a style which was not that bad until around the 80's Lizarraga's son decided to put lyrics to the music.

So the music was disregarded greatly, and the entire genre was deformed into the current state it is today because it got popular nationwide again for some retarded reason i don't understand.

But like, banda didn't use to be what you first heard about it.
