At least in tonal languages, the tone distinguishes words from one another (adding information). Gender doesn't add information, it's just more stuff that you have to learn.

Grammar gender isn't bad as long as it has rules to be determined.
German gender is arbitrary and has to be learned for each noun separately. In other words an abomination. Why didn't you ordnung your language...
>>
>>75107585
If tonal languages were that much a pain in the ass, they wouldn't exist. Your probably just retarded.

Migration + increased education and formalisation...probably. Definitions of a language are rough when they're spread over various tiny communities with no records or underlying system/theory or standard education, over time as societies form, records become prevalent, people start thinking about shit, standardisation, etc. Then everything gets formalised and education increases. Which then reduces new phonemes forming naturally. Especially now, could you imagine new phonemes naturally arising and shifting a language in the modern world? Even dialects are dying in the wake of standards and globalism...
>>
>>75107690
It wouldn't be very völkisch to make the language easier to learn for foreigners.
Not even third generation immigrants can get our language right. Feels good man
>>
>>75109549
Phonetically? To be honest, Japanese sounds kinda nice. Such a shame that weebs made it into a language for losers.
>>
>>75109609
You could argue that modern English's use of the Latin alphabet is a mixed system of alphabet and ideography. Due to lack of being phonetic and general inconsistency; a word could be considered both an ideogram and a collection of letters.

You mean how "I" and "eye" are pronounced the same, and you pretty much have to learn the spelling of words by heart because there's no logical rules? Never thought about it like that. English is actually a lot like Japanese in that sense
>>
>>75109873
You could argue that but it's still far easier to learn especially for an outsider than something like Chinese writing.

Grammatical gender can also distinguish words from each other.
For example the Norwegian words "ball" and "ball".

Thanks to the gender, we can know the difference, because one is masculine and one is neuter.
Place it in a real context:

en stor ball (a big ball)
et stort ball (a big ball)

Actually should have used a different word because English is actually a perfect example of how bad it can end. One of the words means a spherical thing you can throw and kick when you play with it, and the other is a dance party.

It does. If you mention two objects of differing genders, you can refer to any of them with just the pronoun and no further specification.

I'd prefer if they'd not exist though so languages would be easier to learn

Being a retard, I don't know what a tonal language is. What type of language is Danish? What about English? French? Chinese?
>>
>>75119005
It doesn't work with English, I know it from experiance.
>>
>>75119150
Tonal language is a language in which the meaning of a word can change entirely based on what tone of voice you use when saying it
>>
>>75117880
cec, fuccing this. Talc about a waste of time.
>>
>>75119289

>>
>>75118866
slavic "cases" are not the same as the "cases" in agglutinative languages like Finnish and Hungarian

>>75119289
getting rid of c instead is a much better idea, though
replase it with k/s where applikable and you're left only with digraphs, like the ch in church

the inverse is true, too
Tonal language natives' intonation in non-tonal languages tends to be shit, putting random tones on every syllable

>>75118866
also the cases in agglutinative languages are essentially suffixes and tend to be the same for all words or
only have very small changes caused by vowel harmony
