Even this gobshite can't speak Irish. He knows a few words to throw into English sentences but had to send Pearse Doherty to the TG4 debate last time because he wasn't able to converse or debate in Irish.

After checking it apparently that debate had to be cancelled on those grounds. kek

Are you sure? I've heard him speak Irish to a very high standard before. Maybe not fluently, but definitely passable.

Speaking of which, what was funny there during the last election was that the TG4 election debate had to be cancelled because only Micheál Martin and Enda were confident enough in their Irish skills to do it. Would have loved to have seen a debate even tween the two of them in Irish.

Being democratically elected and rising to leader of the largest party isn't very indicative of that. The fact that a foreigner could rise to become leader shows that the natives believe him to be among their best. It serves as a promotion for immigration and integration if anything.
Though the premise is of course ridiculous as Varadkar is Irish born and raised.

>loyalists always and west brits today who'd like some excuse for our deviation from what Pearse wanted for Ireland, which is now that he was a crazed extremist pedo
It's based on his poem "Little Lad of the Tricks". That said that sort of convention of romanticizing the innocent qualities of a child, or woman, was a peculiar Victorian sensibility, as well as similar to the Aisling format in Irish poetry of describing a woman's qualities as a metaphor for Ireland. I don't know what his intentions in that poem were though. It's still a bit perturbing.

He was an extremist though regardless of whether you believe in his Nationalist convictions.

>because of the ones you and I listed who definitely for some and perhaps for others had different heritages but chose to identify with the Irish one solely
>Ireland is Irish and should be governed by the Irish, obviously something lost on you though
But how is Varadkar not Irish? What indication is there that suggests he's part of some sort of ethnically subversive conspiracy to undermine Ireland? He's a committed Irish politician that has worked for years to further his convictions of what he believes is best for Ireland, whether I agree with them or not.

May as well pack up the national soccer team if we're going to be so cynical on people's origins.

It's funny seeing Farage attempting to talk up the potential economic benefits of the Commonwealth for Britain and ending European immigration when the Indians, and potentially others, would dominate any Commonwealth free trade agreement and they have a bigger chip on their shoulder than us against the Brits. They already want discussion on more immigration allowances.

It's hilarious to think that people motivated by racism or euro-scepticism who voted leave are now reduced to this.

I became short sighted as a teenager, but because I needed my glasses so often to look at distant things I ended up wearing them almost permanently out of convenience. I'm from Limerick. Don't confuse recognising realities of sovereignty with west brit behaviour. I'm Pro EU and would be quite happy if I woke up tomorrow and found that the six counties had detached themselves and drifted off into the nordic sea alongside Britain. It would mean our nearest neighbours would be the mainland and we'd be rid of those British cunts once and for all.

I really don't understand the notion of someone who is obsessed with annexing British territories claiming others to be west brit. I would be happier to live my life without acknowledging the existence of Britain yet you're probably the kind constantly seeking their attention in some form or another. If you really aren't a west brit move on and culturally separate yourself from Ireland's colonial past.

How does this make you feel? Aren't land borders fun. I accept the realities of history and don't believe we have authority over an entire island on the virtue of it looking nice and tidy on a map.
>>

No, thats me. Hes not me.

But you have your people there. We Portuguese people lived there for centuries.

>don't understand the notion of someone who is obsessed with annexing British territories
Because they should never have been British territories in the first place, and a large percentage of the people living there identify as Irish.
They just drew and arbitrary border on the map to suit a very small minority of people.
And don't forget how poorly they treated OUR people in the North for decades. If they want to hang on to the "territory" at least treat all of the people there with some degree of respect.
>>
>>75083573
Nah, that's me.

Ancient history. The land was owned by someone else before the Irish and will be owned by someone else after we're all gone.
Why pick an arbitrary moment in history and declare it true? With the same mindset I'm sure there are brits who consider our country their rightful territory.

The GFA allows for a border referendum if the North want it if the "poor treatment" is such a concern for them. It's really none of our concern until it comes to that.
>>
>>75083694
Some just have nationalist or irredentist sentiments I guess. I think they feel an obligation to as nationalist sentiment is inextricably linked with the Irish identity.

You can't just define every period of time before today as "ancient history", which is what you are doing.
Sure, picking dates and periods of time is "arbitrary" for everything, but you still have to do it.

>GFA allows for a border referendum if the North want it if the "poor treatment" is such a concern for them
Except this "poor treatment" was experienced by a minority of the population who were essentially powerless against the majority.
Power sharing though has helped in recent years of course.

I don't think you can be a meme coach after achieving what he did but they lost a lot of players last season and it seems prepared very poorly for this year so it's probably more that he's a good coach but let the success get to his head a bit.

Either that or their Pro 12 title was carried by Muldowney, Henshaw, MacGinty and Bundee Aki giving a damn.

>>
>>75085740
I think last year was definitely a blip. They lack the resources to compete on that level on a consistent basis.
I think Ultan Dillane will join Munster next year and unless the IRFU give Bundee Aki a central contract he'll leave too.
On the plus side the recent changes to european qualification means they only need to finish 7th in the Pro 12 now which they're capable of doing.
