those stats are true, but also somewhat biased in one respect. They count people with mixed ethnicity as "non-white", as if the white population is shrinking, instead of amalgamating.

Actually, the vast majority of mixed race people are part white. So in the US, mixed race procreation is usually (asian + white), or (black + white), or (latino + white), or (mixed race + white), or (other + white). It's much more rare to mix (minority ethnicity + minority ethnicity).

You end up with a lot of people who are culturally the same as whites, look pretty white, and live exactly like whites... except when it comes time to be counted for a census, or fill out a college entrance application. You get weird situations where someone like Elizabeth Warren (who for all intents and purposes is white) gets counted as a mixed-race Native American; or George Zimmerman (who for all intents and purposes is white) is counted as White-Hispanic.

For US purposes, "Native American or American Indian" only counts if your ancestor's tribe is from North America (minus mexico). The US doesn't recognize Central and South Amerindians as "Native Americans" for census purposes. They are lumped in together with "Hispanic or Latino" which turns what would conceptually be an "ethnicity" into a "race". So White-Hispanics are part of the "latino" race, and Indigenous peoples in Peru who don't even speak Spanish are also part of the "latino" race.

It's a bit bizarre, but it's how we do things. Democrats want to create a latino voting block with predictable democrat voting habits. They don't want upper-middle class white-hispanics to start thinking of themselves as white and voting republican.
