Can anyone explain to me why does the flag of U.S.A. is very similar to that of British East India Company? I know that U.S.A. started with thirteen colonies and therefore they have thirteen stripes in their flag but Flag of E.I.C also had thirteen stripes on it, so was it just a coincidence.

I always wondered about this.
Maybe Betty Ross just ripped off the flag.

https://www.britannica.com/event/Boston-Tea-Party
>In 1773 Parliament passed a Tea Act designed to aid the financially troubled East India Company by granting it (1) a monopoly on all tea exported to the colonies, (2) an exemption on the export tax, and (3) a “drawback” (refund) on duties owed on certain surplus quantities of tea in its possession.
Boston Tea Party was in anger against the East India company. So why did the copied from the flag of E.I.C. itself ?

It was commonly seen at the time. Same thing happened with the Malaysian flag. I believe the EIC had a presence in Malaysia and so when the flag was made the guy (I think a kid?) just ripped off that flag.
First American flag was even much more similar. Was U.S.A a breakaway organization from E.I.C.
This is a fact

Majapahit declined before British reached Indonesia, and Britain didn't had much of a control over Indonesia, so why they will adopt their flag.
