Hi, /int/ anons!
Since I've been developing the real estate website, which is mostly targeted towards a two major audiences, Chinese and British, I feel quite confused with the measurement system which is being used in Great Britain. Could someone be so kind and clarify to me, what measurement units of area are preferred by British instead of sq. m., in terms of abroad properties? Sq. Ft? But I don't get then, why British real estate agencies publish a property sizes in m2? Do Brits are capable to use and easily calculate metric system, considering that this is not their native system? It's all so confusing. Pic related.
Plz, help me out =(

We're legally obliged to use metric on print material for most things but we rarely use it in day to day life because it's garbage

Enjoy ordering your 568ml of beer at a pub
>>
>>74972985
and why would'nt he order a 500ml beer
>>
>>74972985
Oh i will, those free 68ml are great. But JFYI, outside of UK they serve 0.5l pretty much everywhere except for those places which try to look British on purpose.
>>
>>74972890
Ok then, so what would you recommend to me to use, sq. ft? Would it be wise to publish properties on the site in sq. ft?

>>74972900
Here we go again. I'm not about arguing which one is better (because it's obvious kek), but trying to figure it out how to provide area sizes for Brits in proper way, that's all.
Have something to say? Shoot.

>>74972985
I will, just say what me to do with my issue!
>>
Pretty sure Brits just use square feet.
>>
>>74973649
Oh pal, I much appreciate your straight answer with no fooling around.

so are speed limits in mph?
>>
>>74972985

what an idiot
>>
>>74973337
This.
England is in a funny place because most of us can basically use both systems. Probably some Americans are like this if they're working professionals, too.
We know how dumb metric is and what we lose out from using it because we understand how both work. People using metric on the continent don't understand imperial and so they don't see how metric blows.
>>
>>74973092
>That retarded image
You don't need to "convert" in SI
>>
>>74978519
>they don't see how metric blows
So how it blows?
>>
Fun fact: The metric system is pointless outside of fields like Applied Physics and Chemistry. Other than that, it's pointless.

why ??????

How does it even happen that i came back to my computer almost 6 hours later, only to see an answer this retarded? And still no explanation on why metric is bad.
>>
>>74978952
Yes, it's not like you need to mesure any distance, temperature of weight in your daily life.
>>
>>74979558
*or
>>
>>74979336
I'm the "retarded" one when you're the one who thinks you get a free 68ml with a mythical metric pint? OK m8
>>
>>74979558
SI is infinitely superior for all three of those
>>
>>74979626
We have pints only in Brit-styled pubs, and sometimes sold in cans, if it's imported. The prices are always the same as everywhere, so it's basically free beer. In fact, imported beer here costs either the same, or even less than in the country it was made.
>>
>>74979654
That's what I'm talking about. Why do you still use your pointless system instead?
>>
>>74979760
There is nothing free about a metric pint, you are either getting the same as you would normally (568ml) or even less (500ml), probably different in the US because they changed their ounces
>>
>>74979788
Meant imperial*, just woke up
>>
>>74979866
What? Is that how you call your "system"?
>>
>>74979827
When you have ten bottles on the shelf, each priced exactly the same, and one of them happens to be a pint instead of the usual 500ml, then yeah, it's extra beer free of charge.
>>
>>74972900
>it's easier so it's retarded
>i'm such a smart american

also, nice job for seeing jews everywhere. go back to /pol/
>>
>>74972985
You fucking twat, we're the ones who get 568ml
>>
Base ten makes metric bad for daily situations
>>
>>74983095
Yes and no one says give me a 568ml you mong. We were saved by our based imperial units.
>>
>>74984402
How is that?
>>
>>74986149
Very low number of factors
>>
>>74987667
What do you mean by this?
>>
>>74987822
Imperial tends to be duodecimal, meaning you have 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. Factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5, and 10. This gets even worse as numbers get larger, there's something like three times the number of factors in old imperial money (which went up to 240) compared to 100. It's why eggs and buns mostly come in 6s and 12s.
>>
Both Russiabro.
The floorplan for my flat was listed in both m^2/sqft.
I would probably give more weight to metres, slightly.

Look at rightmove to get an idea about typical attributes/values.

What is the website for?
>>
>>74987981
>Factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5, and 10
You can also use 4. 1/4th of meter is 25 cm. 1/4th of kg is 250g. I can't understand what's your problem.
>>
>>74972875
We use both fairly regularly, except, as >>74972890 said, most people use Imperial in day-to-day occurances (and speedlimits) and metric for everything official.

For your circumstances, floorplans tend to be listed in both metric and imperial, ft^2 and m^2.
