Toddlers first interaction with math should be learning the Peano axioms as if they were prayers and then build their way up from there.
Not ducking apples and little houses to make long division or ropes for common core. Ambiguous interpretations in arithmetic is completely stupid, a number will never be an object and it'll never act as such.
